WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
scissors
ruler
glue gun
votive candleholder
1 piece 8" long 5" hunter green velvet ribbon
ultra fine point permanent black marker

HOW TO MAKE IT:1. Line up the top edge of the votive candleholder with one edge of the inside of the piece of ribbon. Using the marker, draw a line under the bottom of the votive candleholder on the ribbon. Roll the piece of ribbon up around the candleholder until it is completely covered. Overlap the end by about ½". Cut the piece from the roll.
2. Using a ruler, extend the line you drew under the bottom of the votive candleholder all the way along the length of the piece of ribbon. Cut along the line and put the excess piece of ribbon aside. You only need the piece that will cover up the votive candleholder.
3. Draw or trace (I used a star magnet as a pattern) five 1" stars on the inside of the piece of ribbon. The points of the stars should be about 3/8" apart from each other; you want them to be evenly spaced.
4. Poke the tip of one side of the scissors through the center of one of the stars from the inside of the ribbon and carefully cut around the lines of the star you drew. Cut out the remaining stars in the same way.
5. When you are finished cutting out the stars, wrap the piece of ribbon around the votive candleholder with the velvet side facing out. Make sure the edges of the piece of ribbon are lined up with the top and bottom of the votive candleholder. The ends should overlap slightly. Lift up one end and squeeze a line of hot glue along the edge of the other end. Pull the piece of ribbon as tight as possible without distorting the shapes of the stars and press it into the hot glue. Hold it in place briefly until secure. Add a small drop of hot glue at the bottom of the votive candleholder where the ends of the piece of ribbon overlap each other and press the ribbon into the hot glue. This is just to secure the ribbon to the votive candleholder so it won't shift and it won't show or get hot from the votive because it is at the base of the candleholder.
