WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
scissors
ruler
glue gun
1 24" long artificial evergreen swag
4 pine cones
5 snowflake wood cut-out
1 piece 20" long 4" red velvet ribbon
1 piece 17" long 4" red velvet ribbon
1 piece 4½" long 4" red velvet ribbon
gold glitter spray
silver glitter spray
4 pieces 28 gauge tie wire
4 large paper clips
HOW TO MAKE IT:
1. Lay down some newspaper outside or in a well-ventilated area. Spread out the 5 snowflake wood cut-outs on the newspaper. You will be painting 3 with gold glitter spray and 2 with silver glitter spray so arrange them far enough apart on the newspaper so they won't get sprayed with the other color. Arrange 2 of the pinecones with the 2 snowflakes you'll be spraying with silver glitter and 2 of the pinecones with the 3 snowflakes you'll be spraying with gold glitter.
2. Shake the bottle of silver spray glitter and cover 2 of the wood snowflake cut-outs and 2 pinecones completely. Let the glitter dry for 8 minutes. Spray on a second coat of silver glitter. Let dry another 8 minutes.
3. Shake the bottle of gold spray glitter and cover 3 of the wood snowflake cut-outs and 2 pinecones completely. Let the glitter dry for 8 minutes. Spray on a second coat of gold glitter. Let dry another 8 minutes.
4. While the glitter spray is drying (between coats) it is time to add the red velvet ribbon to the wreath. Cut a 20" piece of the 4" wide red velvet ribbon.
5. Wrap the ribbon around the center of the swag, pull the ribbon so it is wrapped tightly and hot glue the end down by squeezing a line of hot glue on the ribbon where the end comes in contact with it. Press the end of the piece of ribbon into the hot glue carefully so you don't burn your fingers. Hold it in place briefly until secure.
6. Cut a 17" piece of the 4" wide red velvet ribbon. Lay the piece of ribbon velvet side down on your work surface. Fold the ends in toward the middle, overlapping one ½" over the other. Lift the upper end, squeeze a thin line of hot glue ¼" from the edge of the end below it and press the upper end down into the glue carefully so you don't burn your fingers.
7. Cut a 4½" piece of the 4" wide ribbon. Roll it up width wise, overlapping one end ½" over the other. Squeeze a line of hot glue ¼" in from the edge of the non-velvet side of one end of this piece of ribbon and press the velvet side of the other end into the hot glue so it overlaps by ½".
8. Arrange the 4½" loop over the bow you made previously, lining up the exposed edge of the end of the piece of ribbon with the exposed edge of the bow. Lift up the loop; squeeze a line of hot glue along the exposed edge of the bow and press the exposed edge of the loop into the glue carefully so you don't burn your fingers. The loop won't look centered on the bow and wobbles a bit when you move it so squeeze another line of glue on the bow ¾" from the first line and press the loop into the glue carefully so you don't burn your fingers.
9. Center the bow on top of the piece of ribbon you wrapped around the middle of the swag. Lift up the bow, squeeze a line of hot glue underneath the bow and press the bow back down to the piece of ribbon, holding it in place briefly until secure. Arrange one of the gold glitter snowflakes in the center of the loop on the bow. When you are satisfied with the arrangement, lift up the snowflake, squeeze a drop of hot glue on the back and press it back down to the bow. Hold it in place briefly until secure.
10. Now it is time to start prepare the rest of the embellishments for the swag. Turn the remaining 4 snowflakes glitter side down on your work surface. Open up the paper clips so they are ready to clip onto the branches of the swag when you are ready to attach the snowflakes. If you do this after you have glued the paper clips onto the snowflakes it may cause the paper clip to come unglued. Squeeze a drop of hot glue in the center of each of the snowflakes one at a time and press a paper clip into the glue. Let the glue dry very hard before attaching the snowflakes to the swag.
11. While you are waiting for the glue to dry on the snowflakes you can prepare the pine cones to attach to the swag. Wrap one tie wire around each of the pine cones as close to the bottom as possible and twist the ends together. Arrange the pine cones on the swag diagonally across from each other, 2 on both sides of the swag. When you are satisfied with the arrangement, wrap the tie wire around the branch of the swag upon which it rests. Repeat for all the pine cones.
12. Arrange the snowflakes on the swag diagonally across from each other in the opposite direction of the pine cones. I placed the silver glitter snowflakes closest to the bow so the silver and gold would be alternated with the gold glitter snowflake in the center of the bow. When you are satisfied with the arrangement of the snowflakes, attach them to the branches of the swag with the paper clips on the backs of the snowflakes.
